Alex Smith biography explodes off shelves

 The biography of University of Utah quarterback Alex Smith is an immediate regional bestseller following its release this past month. Hundreds of fans of the football star stood in line for more than two hours to get an autographed copy of the book.

The book, written by author Heather Simonsen, chronicles Alex’s life up through the Utes’ 2004 undefeated season that ended with a convincing Fiesta Bowl win over the University of Pittsburgh. Alex was a Heisman Trophy finalist, and won several national awards.

The week following the book signing, Alex was selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft by the San Francisco 49ers, where he is expected to compete for the starting job, following in the footsteps of Hall of Fame quarterbacks Joe Montana and Steve Young.
