Raising an All-American hits No. 1 on Barnes & Noble website

Article as it appeared in the Daily Herald

Devin Durrant was an All-American basketball player for BYU in the 1980s, and now his new book has achieved similar status.

Durrant’s book Raising an All-American recently hit the No. 1 spot in the sports-book category on Barnes & Noble’s website, and achieved a No. 5 ranking on the site’s overall bestseller list.

“It is a great accomplishment for Devin,” said Chad Daybell, president of Provo-based Spring Creek Book Company, the book’s publisher. “The book is a great guide for parents with children involved in athletics, and it is helping families across the nation. It deserves this kind of exposure.”

The book was co-written with Devin’s father, George Durrant, and it shares some of their experiences as Devin progressed in his basketball career, which included being drafted into the NBA by the Indiana Pacers. It also provides advice and counsel from some of the greatest coaches and athletes, such as NBA coach Pat Riley, soccer star Mia Hamm, and basketball legend Larry Bird.

The book was first released last year in Utah and through LDS bookstores, but it is now being sold nationwide through a New York distributor.

The book has won awards on a national level, including the 2005 iParenting Media Award, and has been praised by coaches and parents alike.
